Most of the things I have under Personal are because they are complexes about myself and where my life is at the current moment. The stronger, broader pet peeves are in the social section, as they are more encompassing and generally include lots of other people. I'm kind of antisocial and tend to be misanthropic, so things involving lots of people usually aren't my cup of tea.
Choosing the top 3 was difficult and I had to rely heavily on the use of visual aids:
Well, here we go... you asked for it.
1. Being told what to believe:
Many things on my Social list apply to this general topic. I may just be stubborn but I have a very hard time being told what to do, unless of course I know for a fact the person giving said advice has my best interest in mind. But the entire world of advertising and all it's implications; being constantly encouraged to consume, day in and day out; being told what to eat, drink, wear, listen to and even think. I hate all of it and I hate how much people will eat that shit up. We live in times of mass distraction at a global scale (which is probably what I'm going to write about for the final project). Maybe it's just me, but I think it violates common decency when governments will pay to paint over street art but will do nothing to bring down the countless ads that are posted on walls everywhere, equally illegal, and more of an eyesore (for me at least). Here's a very interesting documentary on street art and advertisement called Inside Outside Street Art and here's a brief little bit by Banksy [and a few other images], that describe the general sentiment I'm trying to get at, better and blunter than I could ever put it:

["Taking the piss out of" is an English phrase that basically means taking advantage of/making fun of someone]
P.S. I had to post that last one separately because the slideshow feature resizes the images and it was impossible to read otherwise.
2. General Ignorance:
It's a similar sentiment I have against advertisement and propaganda, because what we've begun to do ourselves is a vicious cycle of self-promotion and idolization which is, in my opinion, very effectively dulling the potential brilliance of individuals. Our governments and school systems have much more responsibility and weight on the issue, but in the end, the process of learning and the acquisition of knowledge is our individual responsibility, particularly in recent times when the ease of access to nearly limitless amounts of information is merely at our fingertips, and we can't help but keep calm and distract ourselves. Our ignorance and apathy worries and disturbs me.

3. Consumerism and herd mentality:
Now that I realize it all my deepest "pet peeves" aren't pet peeves at all, since that implies triviality, and the things that annoy me the most are profound, social issues, involving the very structure and mentality of our species. In this light, my personal problems are trivial though. I guess my biggest pet peeve is belonging to a generation I don't identify with. I'm not an angry person, but our complacency with the way we live our lives does make me angry. I feel we aren't fulfilling our great potential, and I include myself in that. In conclusion, and on a lighter note, I'd say the best bet is to do your own thing, fight for what you believe is right, strive to be happy and try not to let people rustle your jimmies.
